2. What panicslides does
panicslides lets users create, save, publish, and share web-based presentations.
Some use is anonymous. Some use requires an account. Some Pro features require a paid or supporter entitlement.
Because users can publish content, some information may become public by design.
3. Personal data panicslides may collect
panicslides may collect the following categories of data.
Account data
- email address
- username / internal account name
- display name
- public @handle, if claimed
- account ID
- login/session data
- account settings
- plan or entitlement status
Authentication data
- magic-link tokens
- session tokens
- login timestamps
- security logs
- IP address and user agent related to login/security
Presentation and content data
- decks you create or link to your account
- slide content
- uploaded files, images, GIFs, audio, stickers, and other assets
- presentation titles, slugs, metadata, thumbnails, previews, embeds, and oEmbed data
- publish status and publish URLs
- local/anonymous editing tokens where applicable
Public publishing data
If you publish a deck, the following may become public:
- the published presentation
- the published URL
- title, description, preview image, and embed metadata
- anonymous attribution or @handle attribution
- public @handle page content, if available
Payment and entitlement data
If you pay for Pro or connect a supporter account, panicslides may process:
- plan status
- product/plan ID
- subscription status
- payment provider customer ID
- subscription ID
- transaction or entitlement metadata
- Patreon user/member ID, campaign/tier information, and membership status
- Creem customer/subscription/product identifiers where direct billing is used
panicslides does not intentionally store full payment card numbers.
Payments may be handled by Creem, Patreon, or another payment provider.
Patreon connection data
If you connect Patreon, panicslides may receive and store data needed to verify your supporter status, such as:
- Patreon user ID
- Patreon member ID
- Patreon email, if provided by Patreon
- campaign membership status
- tier entitlement
- OAuth access/refresh token data
- last synchronization time
OAuth tokens should be stored encrypted where technically implemented.
Support and communication data
If you contact support, report a bug, send feedback, or reply to an email, panicslides may process:
- your email address
- your message
- screenshots or attachments you provide
- presentation links you include
- browser/device information you provide
- support history
Reports and moderation data
If a deck is reported or moderated, panicslides may process:
- report reason/category
- report text
- reported presentation ID/URL
- timestamps
- reporter account ID, if signed in
- technical anti-abuse data such as IP address, user agent, or fingerprint
- moderation notes
- actions taken internally
Public removal pages do not show the reason, reporter, or reviewer.

4. Why panicslides processes data
panicslides processes data for the following purposes:
To provide the service
This includes accounts, login, editor functionality, saving decks, publishing decks, serving published presentations, showing dashboards, and enabling Pro features.
Legal basis: contract performance or steps before entering into a contract.
To support anonymous creation and publishing
This includes local editing tokens, anonymous publish links, and technical data needed to keep anonymous decks functional.
Legal basis: legitimate interests and, where applicable, contract performance.
To manage Pro access
This includes verifying Patreon membership, Creem subscription status, manual grants, billing status, limits, and paid features.
Legal basis: contract performance, legitimate interests, and legal obligations where payment/tax/accounting rules apply.
To communicate with you
This includes support replies, transactional emails, account notices, magic links, moderation notices, payment/access notices, and important service updates.
Legal basis: contract performance, legitimate interests, and legal obligations.
To send optional updates or feedback requests
If you opt in to Early Access updates or feedback requests, panicslides may contact you about product updates, feedback, and related project news.

To moderate content and prevent abuse
This includes reviewing reports, removing illegal or rule-breaking content, preventing spam, protecting users, and keeping the service operational.

5. Public content
Published presentations are public by design.
If you publish a presentation, viewers may access it without an account.
Public decks may be shared, indexed, embedded, cached, archived, screenshotted, downloaded by browsers, or linked by third parties.
panicslides can remove or restrict its own hosted copy, but cannot guarantee removal from search engines, browser caches, screenshots, archives, or third-party services.
Do not publish private, confidential, illegal, or sensitive content unless you are prepared for it to be public.
6. Who panicslides shares data with
panicslides may share data with service providers needed to operate the product.
These may include:
Hosting and infrastructure
Cloudflare or similar infrastructure providers may process data for hosting, storage, CDN, Workers, databases, R2 object storage, security, logs, and network delivery.
Email providers
Email providers may process email addresses and message content for magic links, transactional emails, support, and optional updates.

Payment and entitlement providers
Patreon may process membership, billing, and supporter data if you connect Patreon.
Creem may process payment, tax, invoice, subscription, refund, and chargeback data when direct paid subscriptions are available.
Creem may act as Merchant of Record for direct purchases, meaning Creem handles payment, taxes, invoices, refunds, and chargebacks for the transaction.
Support, reporting, and feedback tools
If tools such as bugs.watch or another reporting/feedback tool are enabled, they may process screenshots, screen recordings, selected page elements, user messages, browser data, and related technical information submitted by you.
Analytics and debugging tools
If analytics or error monitoring tools are used, they may process technical and usage data.

Legal, safety, and authorities
panicslides may disclose data if required to comply with law, protect rights, respond to lawful requests, enforce terms, investigate abuse, protect users, or defend legal claims.
Future company transfer
If panicslides is transferred from Benjamin Wegener to a future company or legal entity created to operate the service, relevant user, account, customer, content, and service data may be transferred to that entity so panicslides can continue operating.

Where required, panicslides relies on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, provider data-processing terms, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

- linked decks: while stored in your account, unless deleted, removed, or restricted
- published decks: while published or retained for operational/legal reasons
- anonymous/local drafts: may depend on browser storage and may not be recoverable
- session/login tokens: for their technical lifetime
- security logs: usually limited, but may be retained longer for abuse/security investigations
- support emails: as long as needed to handle support and keep records
- payment/accounting records: as required by payment providers and applicable law
- reports/moderation records: as long as needed for safety, enforcement, dispute handling, and legal protection
- backups: may persist for a limited period after deletion before being overwritten
When data is deleted, it may take time to disappear from backups, caches, logs, and third-party systems.
